This is the core task of the whole platform: writing an article someone will actually read. This guide walks through every field on the page.
Before you start
Make sure the subcategory you want the article to live in already exists — see "Creating and Managing Subcategories" if you need to create one first.
Step by step
- In the sidebar, click Articles under Content.
- Click the New Article button, top-right.
- Fill in the fields on the left:
- Title — required. Keep it specific and search-friendly (for example, "Resetting Your AcityPlus Password" rather than just "Passwords").
- Excerpt — optional, but strongly recommended. One or two sentences summarizing the article — this is what shows up in article listings and search results, so write it for someone deciding whether to click.
- Content — the body of the article. See "Formatting Content with the Article Editor" for a full tour of the toolbar.
- On the right, under Publish:
- Status — choose Draft while you're still writing (nobody outside the admin panel can see it), or Published to make it publicly visible immediately upon saving.
- Subcategory — start typing to search and pick the subcategory this article belongs to. This is required.
- Optionally, under Attachments, attach supporting files — see "Uploading and Managing File Attachments".
- Click Save Article.
Tip: it's completely normal to save an article as a Draft, come back to it later, and switch it to Published once it's ready — nothing is public until you explicitly set the status to Published (and save).
Once published, the article appears immediately on the public homepage, its category and subcategory pages, and in site search — there's no additional "go live" step.
