The Settings page (Administration → Settings, requires the "Manage Settings" permission) controls site-wide behavior across five tabs.
General
- Site name — shown in the browser tab, page titles, and emails.
- Support email — shown as a contact link in the public site's footer and login page, if set.
Security
- Password minimum length — applies everywhere a password is set or changed, site-wide.
- Login lockout — how many failed login attempts are allowed before a temporary lockout, and how many minutes that lockout lasts.
- Default idle timeout — how many minutes of inactivity trigger an automatic sign-out for any role that doesn't set its own override (see "Managing Roles and Permissions").
- Activity log retention — how many days of admin activity history to keep before it's eligible for pruning (see Maintenance below).
Content
- Public page size — how many results show per page on the public search and category pages.
Mail server credentials themselves are configured directly on the server by a technical administrator and aren't editable from this page, for security. Use the Send test email button here to confirm outbound email is actually working — it sends a test message to your own account's email address.
Maintenance
- Storage cleanup — scans for uploaded files no longer attached to any article and lets you delete them to free up space.
- Activity log — shows how many activity log entries exist and lets you prune ones older than the retention period set on the Security tab.
- Application cache — clears cached data if something on the site seems out of date after a settings change; safe to use any time.
Each tab saves independently — you don't need to fill anything in on other tabs to save changes on the one you're editing.
