This article walks you through signing in to the admin panel for the first time and orients you to the main screen you'll see every time you log in.
Signing in
- Go to the knowledge base's login page (your administrator will give you the address).
- Enter the email address and password your administrator gave you.
- Click Log in.
If your organization has Google sign-in enabled, you'll also see a Sign in with Google button above the email/password form. You can use it only if your Google account's email address matches an account that already exists in the system — it will not create a new account for you.
Forgot your password? Click Forgot your password? on the login page and follow the emailed instructions. If nothing arrives, check with your administrator — outbound email may not be fully configured yet on a brand-new installation.
The admin panel layout
Once you're signed in, you'll land on the Dashboard. The screen is made up of three parts:
- Sidebar (left): your main navigation — Dashboard, Categories, Subcategories, Articles, and FAQs under "Content", plus an "Administration" and "Monitoring" section if your role gives you access to those.
- Top bar: shows the page title, a search box, an inactivity countdown badge, and your account menu (top-right).
- Main area: the actual page content — tables, forms, and so on.
On a phone or narrow tablet, the sidebar hides behind the menu icon (☰) at the top-left — tap it to open or close it.
Searching the admin panel
The search box in the top bar (next to the inactivity badge) lets you jump straight to any page or article you have access to. Start typing at least two characters and a dropdown will suggest matching pages (like "Articles" or "Settings") and matching article titles. Click a suggestion, or press Enter to jump to the top match. You'll only ever see suggestions for things you actually have permission to open.
Staying signed in
The badge next to the search box counts down how long you have left before you're automatically signed out from inactivity, as a security measure. Moving around the admin panel resets the countdown. See "Signing In and Staying Signed In" in the Your Account and Profile section for more detail.
